UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta shows its appreciation for the new doctors in the university environment. There were 38 lecturers who had recently been inaugurated as new Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) after completing their doctoral studies. This appreciation was presented at the Inauguration of the 2022 UNS Outstanding Alumni and New Doctors Achievement Award on Thursday (10/3/2022).
This awarding event is held virtually through Zoom Cloud Meetings. At the event, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, SH, M.Hum., presented his appreciation to the new 38 Doctors who graduated from various universities. Seven new doctors are graduated from foreign universities, while 31 others graduated from domestic universities. “Our congratulations and appreciation go to the 38 educators or lecturers who have completed their Doctoral studies and obtained a new title at UNS this year. Out of the 38 new doctors, 7 (seven) graduated from global universities, and 31 are from Indonesian universities,” he explained.
Prof. Jamal hopes that the new Doctors can balance their ideas, insight, creations, and innovations for UNS development. The thirty-eight new doctors added to the number of doctors in the UNS, reaching 782 doctors. The number will continue to grow considering that 381 UNS lecturers are currently pursuing further Doctoral study, with 71 lecturers Doctoral candidates abroad and 310 candidates from Indonesian universities.
The thirty-eight new doctors are from various faculties at UNS, such as the Faculty of Law (FH) and the Faculty of Medicine (FK), each with 5 (five) new doctors. The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), and the Faculty of Agriculture (FP), each with 2 (two) new Doctors. The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), the Faculty of Sports (FKOR), and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD), each with 1 (one) new Doctor. Meanwhile, the most award recipients were from the Faculty of Education and Science (FKIP), with 12 Doctors and 7 (seven) Doctors from the Faculty of Engineering (FT).
Dr. Eng Ir. Pringgo Widyo Laksono, S.T., M.Eng., IPM., as one of the new UNS Doctors, finished studies at Gifu University in Production Development System Engineering. Representing the other 37 awardees, he congratulated other award recipients and expressed his gratitude for the award bestowed by UNS. “We would also like to thank all supporting parties that we could not specify individually, from the study program, faculty staff, to the university leaders, for their assistance and support from the pre-departure preparation and extended to our study period. The provision of Doctoral study assistance for UNS lecturers is essential and useful for lecturers’ self-development and intangible assets for the future progress of UNS. I hope that this program will continue and further develop,” he said.
Dr. Pringgo also said that he and 37 other new doctors were trying to make a real contribution to implementing the higher education Tri Dharma at UNS. Hopefully, these contributions can improve and develop UNS on the international scene. Humas UNS
