UNS — The Center for Science and Technology of Higher Education (Pusat Unggulan Iptek Perguruan Tinggi – PUI-PT) Center for Fintech and Banking UNS (UNS Fintech Center) held a webinar on ‘Internship for Your Future’ on Friday (16/10/2020). The event was held through Zoom Cloud Meetings application and invited two speakers, Prof. Wawan Gunawan A. Kadir from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Ariady as the Director of Strategic Partnership in Bright Internship.
Prof. Wawan discussed the criteria of Center for Science and Technology of Higher Education (PUI-PT). Six criteria need to be fulfilled by a PUI-PT, the ability to absorb external information and technology, the ability to develop international level research based on the demand drive, the ability to disseminate high-quality research findings with international standard, the ability to develop and to conserve local resources potential in a sustainable manner, the ability to develop a system to manage reputable scientific journal, and the ability in developing human resources. Prof. Wawan added that the efforts to strengthen PUI-PT performance can be conducted through the academic aspect by opening a certified internship and research program for students. A certified internship conducted in collaboration with industry will provide a comprehensive experience for students. “While the industry gets excellent talents from students,” Prof. Wawan stated. “In the internship program students should be supervised by a faculty member or teacher,” he added.
The next material was delivered by Ariady as the Director of Strategic Partnership in Bright Internships. Ariady stated that internship is a challenge and a measure of one’s ability. Through an internship, students can understand their potential and apply what they have learned from the university. He also discussed international internships for Indonesian students, its requirements and his experience in assisting Indonesian students in their international internships. Humas UNS
