UNS is ranked 5th nationally with a total of 1 silver and 5 bronze medals. This achievement was announced on the KN MIPA closing ceremony, Thursday (10/9/2020).
The silver medal was awarded to Achmad Nurul Yaqin, a student from the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) UNS, in Chemistry, while the Bronze medal in Physics was awarded to Daniel Sugihantoro from the Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS together with Ayu Safira from FK UNS. The Vice Rector for Students and Alumni Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, appreciates the efforts given by the UNS Delegates in the competition. “This is the highest achievement for UNS in the KN MIPA. All of UNS’s academic members are grateful because we are ranked 5th, this is an excellent achievement. Alhamdulillah, from the total 12 delegates at the beginning stage, there are 8 delegates passed to the national level, and from the 8 delegates, there are 6 (six) delegates who earn a medal,” explain Prof. Kuncoro in Monday (14/9/2020) interview.
UNS assists all delegates through the online system, besides that UNS also facilitates computer laboratories during the final stage of National KN-MIPA from Monday to Thursday (7-10/9/2020). UNS will continue to strive to prepare the best delegates in the KN MIPA event next year. “We will find a strategy to improve this achievement, of course, the experience of the medal winners will be the model for future development. Indeed, it is more difficult to maintain an achievement than it is to achieve something for the first time, but we must also keep trying,” he reveals.
One of the Bronze medal winner, Meilani Ayu Safira, expressed that she does not expect the result and was touched when it was announced that she receives the medal. “I did not expect (to win) and am touched because this is the first time I earn a medal in Physics Olympiad. The preparation that I did was managing the time between college and the Olympics preparation, especially since I came from the Medical Study Program which was not linear with Physics. As for the tips, I regularly practice to solve the questions following the usual standard time required in the real Physic Olympiad,” Meilani explained.
Meilani advised the future KN MIPA delegates, that victory belongs to those who pray and fight. “Thus we need to ensure ourselves to reach the medal. Don’t be discouraged, always be optimistic, and then go through all of it sincerely because, with sincerity, Insyaallah, it will bear sweet fruit,” she said.
Similarly, Dewa Putu Adhi Nugraha Anom, a recipient of the Bronze medal in Biology states that “Of course I am happy and thanks to God, because this is a miracle, especially I only got two days to prepare for the Olympiad. Prior to this, I have several duties that I cannot leave,” Dewa reveals. Through this achievement, Dewa hopes that he will be able to give greater achievement in other competitions. “Do your best and never give up,” he concluded. Humas UNS
