UNS – The Board of Commissioners (DK) chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Prof. Wimboh Santoso, S. E., M. Sc., Ph. D. was inaugurated as an Adjunct Professor for Risk Management Study of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. He was inaugurated by UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, on Monday (08/26/2019). In the Senate Session of Professor Inauguration held at G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium, Prof. Wimboh delivered his inauguration speech titled “Digital Revolution: New Paradigm in Economic and Finance”.
This alumni of FEB UNS class of 1983, said that the title of his speech would implicitly describe the rapid existence of technology had revolutionized the people’s lifestyles. He continued, it would cause friction of the economic order and financial services sector that would evoke distortion in the transition. “Digital culture is being a lifestyle in the society, especially for the Millennials in any aspect of the daily activity, such as in the trading, transportation, education, and medical. This phenomenon is advantaged by entrepreneurs as a business opportunity,” said Prof. Wimboh.
In this era of digital, the institutions of higher education will be facing real and bigger challenges. This is caused by the digital revolution which changes the teaching process. “The big challenge for universities in the era of digital revolution at this time and in the future which should have been a concern for government, the executive leaders of the university as well as the academic communities; is the potential of changes in the teaching and learning process, as the impact of the digital revolutionary,” he explained.
In his speech, Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, stated that UNS which was currently entering the first cluster of the best universities in Indonesia really needed the expertise of Prof. Wimboh. Not only knows inside outside of the theoretical concepts, he also masters in the level of practice, since working at Bank Indonesia (BI) until now leading the DK OJK. So that this will enrich the future research and publication of UNS.
At the present time, only three UNS faculties which already have a teaching factory. They are Faculty of Medicine in the form of UNS Hospital in the campus at Pabelan, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education which having Lab School in the SMA Pradita Dirgantara, and followed by Faculty of Engineering with Lithium Battery in the campus at Purwosari. “Hopefully, with the presence of Prof. Wimboh, will accelerate the availability of the teaching factory. It will be a spin-off of FEB which in the Center of Excellence in our beloved campus, so that can be a compass of economic solutions in the Indonesia and international. Once again, I want to congratulate Prof. Wimboh Santoso and family for his success and mandate as the UNS Adjunct Professor,” expressed Prof. Jamal. Humas UNS/Yefta/Try
