UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a series of event in Universitas Sebelas Maret World Class University Festival (UNS WCU Festival) promoted by the UNS International Office and the implementing team of the UNS WCU program, on Friday – Saturday (27-28/11/2020).
The Chief of UNS International Office, Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D stated that this event’s main objective is to increase the number of UNS international collaboration, especially in research and publication, and increase the global appearance of UNS. “International Research Network is one of the indicators used in several global rankings such as the QS Asian University Rankings,” Irwan explained.
Irwan added that this WCU Festival consists of the webinar on “Being Part of International Research Community”, held on 27 November for social and humanities and 28 November for science and technology. The Vice-Rector for Partnership and Planning Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan, opened both webinars. The speakers in this event are experts from foreign universities and UNS. For the social and humanities field, the invited experts are Prof. Brian Lucey (Trinity Business School, Ireland), Prof. Bruno Sergi (Harvard University, USA), Prof. Padraig Carmody (University of Dublin, Ireland), Prof. Da-chi Liao (National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan), Dr. Chor Foon Tang (Universiti Sains Malaysia) and Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D (Universitas Sebelas Maret). The other experts, Prof. Zhenjiang Shen (Kanazawa University, Japan), Prof. Hendro Wicaksono (Jacobs University Bremen, Germany), Dr. Younki Lee (Gyeongsang National University, Korea), Dr. Koji Enoki (University of Electro-Communications, Japan), and Prof. Agus Purwanto (Universitas Sebelas Maret) are invited for the science and technology field.
In the two webinars, each speaker shared the importance of international collaboration in research, collaboration strategy, involvement in the reputable international journal’s editorial board, strategy and management of international collaboration grant, and other collaboration activities. Another event held in this WCU Festival series is the workshop on review article writing which is also held on 27 and 28 November by inviting Prof. Timothy Teo from Murdoch University Australia for social and humanities field and Dr. Muhammad Aziz from the University of Tokyo Japan for science and technology field.
“In this event, both speakers shared tips on how to write high-quality review paper. Based on the data, review paper tends to have higher citations,” Irwan concluded. Humas UNS
