UNS — The Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, handed an automatic feeder and water purifying equipment to the Young Entrepreneurs Community (AMPUH) in Wonorejo Village. The AMPUH community in Wonorejo Village, which was formed in 2020, has established business in tarpaulin ponds fish cultivation. Since its inception until now, the AMPUH community in Wonorejo Village has had six fish ponds spread throughout the village.
However, in the cultivation process, the fish farmer still faces obstacles related to the feeding process since they cannot regularly feed their fish due to the water conditions that quickly turn cloudy and dirty as well as due to the farmers’ busy activities. To overcome the obstacles faced by the farmers, the Physics Study Program FMIPA UNS community service team consisting of Dr. Fuad Anwar, S.Si., M.Si., Mohtar Yunianto, S.Si., M.Si., and Fendi Aji Purnomo, S.Si., M.Eng., provided solutions through automatic feeder and water purifier skimmers grants.
Mohtar Yunianto reveals that the handover ceremony for the automatic feeder equipment and water purifier was carried out on Thursday (2/6/2022), which coincided with the fish harvest. Witnessed by Wonorejo Village Head and Polokarto Subdistrict Head, the automatic feeding equipment and water purifier were distributed to six fish cultivation entrepreneurs, who are members of the AMPUH community.
Mohtar Yunianto also said that the automatic feeder could be set according to the selected feeding period and feeding length. Meanwhile, the water cleaner consists of two instruments, a skimmer that cleans dirt on the pool’s surface and a vacuum drain that sucks up deposits at the bottom of the pool.
“With the introduction of automatic feeding devices and water purifiers, we hope that fish cultivators are no longer constrained in feeding fish and that the water conditions can stay clear. Therefore, the next harvest, which is three months from now, will bring more results than the current harvest,” Mohtar Yunianto said in a release received by uns.ac.id on Wednesday (8/6/2022).
