UNS — Two students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta created a learning application named Ruang Keju. The application has features that can be used by students of Vocational High School (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan – SMK) in the online learning process. The two students are Urfan Nabila from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) and Luluk Aristiani from the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD).
The team leader, Urfan Nabila, stated that innovation is required to boost the learning system amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The online learning system implemented during the pandemic has demanded Indonesian education to improvise and utilize various applications such as Google meet, Zoom Meeting, E-learning, or other web learning applications.
“It crossed my mind on how SMK students implement their learning process amid the pandemic. Because these students are required to have direct practice, which is different from students in general who mostly learn about theory,” Urfan explained, Wednesday (8/12/2020).
Their application idea started from the vast numbers of applications created and developed to solve people’s life problems, especially in education. Ruang Keju application has five main menus, menu home, games, timeline, message, and others. In these menus, some sub-menus can be accessed and benefits its users. This Android application is beneficial to improve the SMK Student’s academic ability.
“This application is different from most applications because it has games feature that supports students in simulating practice through this application. Video materials consist of practice video, work tutorial, and other videos,” Urfan added.
Through this application, Urfan Nabila and Luluk Aristiani won the second position in the national essay competition Censor Festival 6 held by the Censor Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS. Humas UNS
