UNS – Another proud news came from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta after three of its students won 2nd place in the National Digital-Based Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Business Innovation Competition in October 2020. These students are Fiska Amanda Mulia from the History Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Aulia Rahmah Sari from Accounting Program Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), and Laksita Hanifah Pratiwi from Animal Husbandry Program Faculty of Agriculture (FP).

The competition was managed by Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) to commemorate its 6th Anniversary. The concept promoted by Fiska’s team and brought them to the 2nd place is maximizing technological development. The owner of Bronis Lur has implemented technology to market her product and reach all parts of Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke. Fiska stated that technology would eliminate boundaries, and therefore human activity will not be limited by distance and time. “Thus, people will depend on technology so that the development of the online market will be potential. This dependence can be an opportunity for us, entrepreneurs, to expand our business,” she stated in an interview with uns.ac.id, Monday (21/12/2020)

A team from UNS won over a dozen rivals from other universities in Indonesia. The competition started with registration and proposal submission from 8 August to 10 September 2020, followed by proposal selection on 10-17 September 2020. However, the final round was different from other competitions because this competition used the debate format. “The debate focuses on finding the weaknesses from other’s business ideas,” Fiska added.

The final round was implemented on 2 October 2020, and the winners were announced on 9 October 2020 through YouTube and Instagram account @diesnatalisitk. Fiska felt that the debate format used in the final round was engaging. She hopes that more students will actively hone their skills even though it is not in line with their focus study. “At least it is in line with your interest and talent,” Fiska concluded. Humas UNS
