UNS – Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) program developed by Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) to face Industrial Revolution era 4.0 in 2019 was targeting the alumni of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. A total of 200 talented digital alumni of UNS in a Fresh Graduate Academy (FGA) category were selected as the participants of the DTS program. Among 200 people, three of them are people with disabilities.
The Head of Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) UNS, Prof. Dr. Widodo Muktiyo when opening the training for the participants (07/08/2019) in Auditorium of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), said that the Government set up this program to establish the smart and productive millennials. After the training program, the chosen participants were asked to nurture the digital economy based on their respective talents.
“After joining the training, they are required to sharpen up their individual talents as the digital-based economic agents,” said Prof. Widodo.
Prof. Widodo continued that the 2019 DTS entered its sophomore year. In 2018, the total participants all over Indonesia was 1.000 people. Then this year, the number of participants who receive this scholarship increases to 25.000 people. In 2020, it is planned that there will be 50.000 scholarship recipients.
“Dealing with the Industrial Revolution era 4.0, Government focuses on the evolvement of the digital-based economy. The 200 participants of DTS from UNS have been selected by Education and Culture Ministry’s Research and Development Unit (Balitbang) of Kominfo so they are charged to take part in the program seriously,” he added.
Then, for two months, the participants would attend the training with the practitioners of the digital-based economy as the speakers. The 200 trainees were divided into four classes, with the materials covering various specializations, such as cybersecurity (CISCO), big data analytics (AWS), cloud computing (AWS) and internet of things (AWS).
“Every trainee will be equipped with some facilities like a seminar kit and Rp. 750.000 allowance per month,” he expressed. Humas UNS/ Dwi/Try
