SOLO – International Office UNS has a unique way to introduce Javanese culture as a medium to study Indonesian language for new overseas student. A program called “Overseas Student Goes to Village” had been held at November 8-9, 2013.
Overseas students stayed for two days to experience and to interact with tradition, culture, and custom of Hadiluwih society, in Sumberlawang, Sragen.
Risa Suryana, the deputy of International Office UNS, said that this event is a way to introduce Indonesian language and culture to overseas student, especially to the new overseas students.
34 overseas students from 17 countries joined some activities such as teaching children at Islamic School, observing morning market, and planting rice. Participants gave positive response towards this event.
