UNS – The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, delivers cash donation to the Management of Taman Satwa Taru Jurug (Jurug Zoo-TSTJ), on Wednesday (13/5/2020). The donation aims to fulfill the needs of animal feed purchases in TSTJ.Â
During the ongoing Extraordinary Event (KLB) of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Surakarta City, TSTJ takes a decision to close operational activity and visitors’ visitation.Â
“We are closed since March 16th, thus, if counted up to May 16th, TSTJ has been closed for 2 months. We coordinated with the Mayor, in order for the TSTJ to obtain aid in the form of goods or animal feeds,” said the Chief Director of TSTJ, Bimo Wahyu Widodo opening his welcome remark.Â
During the handover ceremony in the TSTJ Management office, Prof. Jamal, accompanied by the Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, Vice Rector of Planning and Collaboration, Prof. Sajidan, and Rector’s Expert Staff in Finance and Management, Dr. Muhtar.Â
“I was inspired by a television show from Italy that shows 80 circus animals are neglected. Those animals only ate twice in a week,” said Prof. Jamal.Â
Further, Prof. Jamal said that the donation given to TSTJ has been discussed with the Rectory officials. With a high sense of empathy, Prof. Jamal with other Rectory officials immediately realizes the assistance for animal feed purchase in TSTJ. The donation made to TSTJ management is also in line with UNS’ Green Campus program and UNS COVID-19 Care.Â
In front of the media crew, Prof. Jamal appreciates the management of TSTJ that openly willing to coordinate with the UNS part.Â
After delivering his remark, Prof. Jamal delivers the proof of assistance to the Management of TSTJ that received directly by the Chief Director, Bimo Wahyu Widodo.
“Therefore, on this occasion, may I represent the leadership of UNS delivers the proof of donation transfer,” he added.
The cash donation, as Prof. Jamal mentions, will be useful and ease the management of TSTJ in managing the donation. When closing his remarks, he appealed to the community in Surakarta to assist the TSTJ in providing feed for the animals in TSTJ.
