UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta officially grants Honorary Doctoral Degree of Human Resources Management to the Commander of Indonesian Military (TNI), Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, S.I.P. The inauguration was conducted in the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium, Friday (09/20/2019). Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto is an Indonesian Air Force officer and served as the commander since December 8, 2017.
In the inauguration, he delivered his speech titled “Developing Excellent Human Resources (HR) in Facing the Era of Change to Embody Advanced Indonesia”. He explained the importance of education in HR development to deal with global competition and benefit demographic bonus.
The title awarding was not merely giving the degree. The title was bestowed by UNS to Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto due to his contribution about HR development, especially in education and health. In terms of education, it is implemented by his spectacular writings and his commitment to education by establishing Senior High School (SMA) of Pradita Dirgantara.
He believes, Indonesia will become the world’s fourth-biggest economy by 2045. Therefore, the preparation needs to be set to generate supreme HR. In particular, in this era and in the next few years, Indonesia will experience demographic bonus. Thus, education is the best answer to prepare for Indonesia HR that are adaptive in the current 4.0 industrial revolution era and are ready for the upcoming era of 4.1 and 4.2 industrial revolution in future.
“Education is the key to construct superior Indonesian HR. The preparation has been carried out with the participation of TNI in providing education in the outermost areas [of Indonesia] including providing health care services, especially stunting,” Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said.
Meanwhile, UNS Rector, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho in his remarks stated that the awarding Honorary Doctoral Degree/Honoris Causa was fit perfectly for Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, S.I.P. It is because he has a common vision with UNS about HR development.
