FP UNS Commitment to Achieve Healthy Campus

UNS — Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is committed to achieving UNS as a healthy campus. This is discussed in the national webinar “Go Green to Health Promoting University” on Saturday (17/10/2020).

In his opening remark, the Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, stated that the Health Promoting University Program is one of the efforts of environmental-based health promotion by applying the socio-ecological approach. “This program aims to create a learning environment and organizational culture that improve the level of health, welfare, and quality of life for the students, staffs, and local community to develop healthy campus community,” Prof. Kuncoro explained.

Supporting Prof. Kuncoro’s statement, the Dean of FP UNS, Prof. Samanhudi shared the efforts taken by FP UNS to achieve healthy campus. The healthy campus program was launched by UNS on November 2019. The event was followed by a series of events to support the university efforts to improve health level in the campus, including exercise, green and clean spaces, and healthcare services.

The Keynote Speaker in this webinar is dr. Kirana Pritasari MQIH as the Director General (Dirjen) of Public Health Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI). dr. Kirana discussed one of the programs from Kemenkes RI, Health Promoting University Program. She stated that university is a leading institution in the community that has an important role in building human resource capacity into a suitable and acceptable social leader to promote public health.

“University is seen as a leading institution which has the potential to protect and improve the welfare of its academic community and the local community. University graduates will become professional workers and policymakers who have a significant effect on public health,” dr. Kirana explained.

The next speaker is the Faculty Member of Faculty of Medical Science (FK) UNS, dr. Vitri Widyaningsih MS., Ph.D who focused on the strategy of health promotion towards healthy campus. Tawang Sotya Djati as the representative of Sinar Mas Peduli discussed various activities conducted by Sinar Mas Peduli from Sabang to Merauke and has established collaboration with the stakeholder to maintain public health. The last speaker is the Faculty Member of FP UNS, Dr. Agung Wibowo, who explained the role of university students in achieving a healthy campus and promoting a healthy lifestyle through Community Service Program (KKN). Additionally, Agung also encourages student organizations to build opinion and promote lifestyle on the campus and in the community. Humas UNS
