A condition that is expected to become leverage of Indonesian economic growth post-pandemic combined with the increasing millennial’s role through their new start-ups in 2020. The start-up number jumps have brought Indonesia to the fifth position as a country with the most significant number of start-ups globally.
“The increase in millennial numbers who are interested in being an entrepreneur will grow the micro, small, and medium business which contributes to 50.3% in Gross Domestic Product,” Prof. Yunus said.
The Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Djoko Suhardjanto, M.Com (Hons), Ph.D., Ak., in his remark, shared the continuing economic activities in line with the implementation of health protocol in daily life. The pandemic has accelerated economic digitalization, which prompted the FEB UNS to hold International Business Model Canvas Competition to facilitate millennials in sharing their innovative ideas. “The Best Ten will present their business ideas, initiating new entrepreneurs in Indonesia,” Prof. Djoko explained.
The first speaker in the main agenda, Utari Octavianty, the Co-founder & General Director of Aruna Indonesia, opened her material by explaining Aruna Indonesia as a technology-based firm that focuses on marine and fish trading. Aruna is created considering the abundance of fishery resources in Indonesia that failed to improve coastal community’ welfare. The 30 Forbes Under 30 Asia initiated Aruna with two friends through business competitions and failed to secure funding from more than ten competitions. Their spirit and curiosity brought them to success. Hence she reminded the participants that the entrepreneur’s way would be different from most people’s ways. However, success serves honor as a business affects people’s lives.
“At last, our business generates profits while benefits others. Create jobs, and contributes to Indonesia’s tax income,” Utari said.
Keke Genio, the Co-Founder & CMO of Lokapoin and Content Creator YouTube, delivered the second material about Lokapoin as a digital start-up in local accommodation. The uniqueness of Lokapoin is it offers additional activities for tourists besides the basic accommodation service. Amid the pandemic, the business opened innovation in the culinary field through its Lokaresto. Keke stated that a good company started from executed ideas that affect the community and that business started with offering products to prospective consumers. Feedback on outcomes should be used as a basis in decision-making for business sustainability, with a strong emphasis on product prototype development.
“So we make the minimum and feasible version of our product to be sold,” Keke explained.
The third speaker, Meidy Fitrianto, the Co-Founder & CEO of Nodeflux, a technology start-up, focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI), which succeeded by optimizing opportunity.
