UNS — The Governor of Central Java Province, H. Ganjar Pranowo, S.H, M.IP., encourage the young intellectuals to keep fighting on the front line during the Covid-19 pandemic in his speech in the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Online Graduation Ceremony Period IV, Saturday (28/8/2021).
To the graduates and their parents, the Governor shared various short-term efforts that the young generation can take. He expected the graduates to participate in solving various issues in the community. Intellectuals from all fields are allowed to participate. It does not matter, even if it is such a simple act.
“Economic program graduates, for example, could help the MSMEs. From Education faculty could assist in the children education, they who just starting school. Also, from other faculties, you could move as much as you could, but you need to move,” Ganjar Pranowo reminded.
He does not deny that the Covid-19 pandemic has overwhelmed the country. He observed that independence is a factor that hinders pandemic handling in Indonesia, and up to today, there has been no effective formula to solve the issues in education and other sectors. Ganjar Pranowo thinks that the pandemic has brought a lot of home works, especially for the intellectuals. This pandemic is a great laboratory to awaken scientific culture-free open space for intellectuals, which is expected to drive beneficial findings.
“From this difficulty, we finally could reflect to solve various problems, intellectuals need to be on the first line,” Ganjar Pranowo emphasized.
To reach that condition, he stated that the intellectuals in in Indonesia need to improve their capacities by enhancing the quantity and quality of research, which will achieve independence in Indonesia. He also mentioned that research in Indonesia needs to be managed better, including easier permits and funding for conducting research. He reminded that it is essential to not hinder the intellectuals with their high research spirit with a hard permit and unavailable funding.
“If it can be achieved, InsyaAllah, we can quit this pandemic soon, and we will not get confused when similar difficulty arises in the future,” he said. Humas UNS
