B-Universe Goes to Campus: Encouraging UNS Students to Play Role in 2024 Elections

UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta hosted the event “B-Universe Goes to Campus”. The talk show and sharing session, themed “The Role of Youth in the 2024 Elections,” was held in the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium on Thursday (14/9/2023). The event was attended by the Acting Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., Managing Director of B-Universe, Apreyvita Wulansari, and hundreds of UNS students.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., Acting Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, said that “B-Universe Goes To Campus” is a form of support and educational platform for the younger generation to understand and delve deeper into the role of youth and students in the upcoming 2024 elections.

“The purpose of this event is to introduce and provide explanations, through various speakers, of the importance of election awareness. Individual awareness is crucial in choosing the future leaders of Indonesia. “Therefore, awareness of the policies that our leaders will implement in the next five years is essential for all of us to understand,” Prof. Yunus said.

Apreyvita Wulansari, Managing Director of B-Universe, also mentioned in her speech that B-Universe collaborates with the central and regional election commissions (KPU and KPUD) to promote the elections.

“That is our focus as a media platform. We want to bring up this topic so that it becomes a common discussion, not a sensitive one, but rather an educational and not-politicized one. “Everyone has an equal right to vote and maximize their vote on February 14th,” Apreyvita added.

The event continued with a talk show and sharing session featuring four speakers: Nurul Sutarti, S.P., M.Sc., Chairperson of the Surakarta Regional Election Commission (KPUD); Edward Trias, Independent Committee for Election Awareness; Dr. Sunny Ummul Firdaus, S.H., M.H., Head of the Center for Democracy and National Resilience Studies (Pusdemtanas) LPPM UNS; and Kholid Rifai, Chairperson of the Student Council of Faculty of Agriculture (FP)UNS. The session was moderated by Agung Hardiansyah, a news anchor and producer of B-TV.

“We have high hopes for the upcoming elections. The younger generation is an incredible resource for 2024. They can change the future of Indonesia if they are willing to respect and engage in the electoral process. One way to achieve this is through political education. It is crucial to transfer this knowledge and make it a valuable asset for students through election organizers’ awareness campaigns, especially regarding the understandable election regulations,” Dr. Sunny explained.

“B-Universe Goes To Campus” provides an opportunity for students to learn about the procedures and organization of elections. Students can also exercise their right to vote by choosing future leaders who have the potential to advance Indonesia. HUMAS UNS
