UNS – The Bengawan Formula Student Team of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta achieved success on the international stage. They recently won 3rd place in the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Award at the FSAE Japan 2023 event on Saturday (2/9/2023).
FSAE Japan is an international electric car competition held annually. In this competition, teams are challenged to design and produce a formula race car. The competition, which took place from 28 August to 2 September 2023, was organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc. There were 77 teams from six countries: Japan, Thailand, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, and Taiwan.
Tegar Aryoseno, from the Mechanical Engineering study program, Faculty of Engineering (FT) as the team leader, explained that this competition was divided into two events: static events and dynamic events.
“Static events include business plan presentation, cost and manufacturing report, design presentation, and technical inspection. Meanwhile, dynamic events consist of acceleration, skid pad, autocross, endurance, and efficiency. In addition to these two events, there are also special award categories, one of which is the CAE Awards. The CAE Awards are intended for teams that achieve highly efficient and advanced design using CAE technology,” he explained as quoted from ft.uns.ac.id, Wednesday (20/9/2023).
The Mechanical Engineering student expressed his joy and gratitude because the Bengawan Formula Student Team was able to achieve the title of champion after a three-year hiatus.
“This is a good start. Even though we had a three-year hiatus, we were able to compete with 76 teams from various universities and countries. It was challenging, but Alhamdulillah (praise to God), we succeeded. We are very grateful and thankful to Universitas Sebelas Maret, sponsors, and other parties who have fully supported our team’s journey,” he said.
