UNS – Several students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, originated from Wonogiri District, initiated a platform that focused on developing the potential of community in Wonogiri. They are focused on education, social, and cultural field, to enhance the quality and capability of the society in establishing a social change. The platform is entitled Bintang Timur Foundation (BTF), established since March 18th, 2020.
The BTF is initiated by Dian Nugroho and his colleagues from Wonogiri District. Dian who is from the Fine Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), serves as the CEO and Founder of BTF. There is also Rizqi Anjar, a student from the Local Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) acting as the Secretary, Rizky Rachmawati from Office Administration Education (PAP) FKIP as commissioner.Â
Moreover, there are several other fields in BTF namely social, culture, education, economy, information media, and HRD. The social section is coordinated by Rizki Setyo Cahyono, culture section is coordinated by Dhiya Restu Putra, while Devi Aditya Sinta and Lina Dwi Cahya in the education section, the economy section with Rohmad Romadhon, and information media led by Bety Ayu. As for HRD is currently under Siti Aminah coordination.
Dian admitted that BTF was formed as a form of dedication to Wonogiri. “The reason why we are established is as a form of devotion to the hometown because we believe that change occurs when students as educated people care about the environment in where they were born. Soko ndeso bali ndeso, from the village we will back to the village,” Dian explains on Wednesday (29/7/2020).
The education activity conducted in BTF consists of educational activity for students in elementary school until Junior High School. Activities such as book literacy and studying together are conducted once a week. Even amid the pandemic, these activities still continue today. Other than education activity, BTF also conducts other activities such as social program, which aims to provide assistance during a disaster in Wonogiri. There is also a socialization program to educate the Wonogiri community regarding a healthy lifestyle, and cultural program, where BTF held training for traditional culture performance.
Dian hopes that BTF can contribute to the establishment of a better Indonesia. Humas UNS
