UNS – The Capacity Improvement Program (PPK, or Program Peningkatan Kapasitas) of Student Organizations (Ormawa) of the Student Executive Board (or BEM) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta successfully received awards at the 2023 Abdidaya Ormawa event. BEM FEB UNS is one of the five Ormawa delegations from UNS in the category of University Support System, Ormawa, and Implementation Team.

BEM FEB UNS received two awards, namely the 2nd Best Ormawa Support System in the Ormawa category with the most comprehensive support and the 3rd Best Implementation Team in the team category with the most comprehensive Ormawa support. The award ceremony was held at the Universitas Jember (Unej) from December 7 to 10, 2023.

Alvin Yusuf Akbar, the President of BEM FEB UNS, is aware of the responsibility involved in the realization of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Speaking to uns.ac.id, he emphasized the importance of dedication. Dedication becomes one of the paths for students as academic communities to apply the knowledge gained during their studies.

Therefore, BEM FEB UNS, through the Ministry of Social Affairs (Sosma), developed a program based on community service. This program was then included in the PPK Ormawa activities organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).

PPK Ormawa BEM FEB UNS adopted the theme of empowering women with the program title “Empowering Women Through Seanturi (Women’s School Karangturi) based on 21st Century Learning to Improve Self and Family Quality in Karangturi Village.”

Furthermore, Alvin explained that the Seanturi Program had been conducted from June to November 2023. The program’s target was the mothers of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) and Women Farmers Group (KWT). The involvement of the residents of Karangturi Village is significant. This is evident from the participation of 41 village residents, 14 team members, and volunteers from BEM FEB in 10-15 meetings.

The Seanturi program included nine programs divided into 12 meetings. The programs covered Women Caring for the Environment, Women Safe from Sexual Harassment, Women Love Indonesia, Women Understanding Parenting, Women Understanding Disaster Mitigation, Creative Women, Women Understanding Nutrition, Women Smart Against Hoaxes, and Women Understanding Digital Finance.

“BEM is not just about actions and demonstrations, BEM can also achieve. Student organizations must actively contribute to community service to realize the tri dharma of higher education,” Alvin said. Humas UNS
