UNS – Muhammad Rayhan Ramadhani, a student from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, has accomplished remarkable success at the Wimaya International Karate Championship 2023. The event took place at the Sports Building of the Air Force Academy in Yogyakarta from December 15 to 17, 2023.
To uns.ac.id, Rayhan stated that his goal to become a champion stems from his desire to make his family proud and uphold the good name of the Public Administration study program, FISIP, and UNS on the international stage.
“My family is my reason for becoming a champion. I want to make my family proud. Not only that, I also want to uphold the good name of the Public Administration study program, FISIP, and also UNS,” Rayhan explained on Friday (29/12/2023).
Rayhan explained that the competition involved 3,000 professional athletes from 134 contingents. Despite facing professional athletes who often compete on the international stage, Rayhan is grateful for his success.
“This competition was against several professional karate athletes in the +84 kg competition class who often compete internationally. I am grateful to have won first place in kumite +84 kg for male students and 3rd place in kumite +84 kg for senior males,” Rayhan said.
Rayhan also conveyed that to become a champion, one must focus during training and listen to the coach’s instructions.
“Focus during training and listening to the coach’s instructions are crucial. It’s better to have one sharp knife than to have a thousand dull knives, or it’s better to master one move than to have a thousand moves but not be able to use them,” Rayhan said. HUMAS UNS
