UNS — The student of Diploma Program of Civil Engineering Vocational School (SV) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won the third place in ‘Innovation Concrete Competition’ held by Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) Semarang, Wednesday (12/8/2020). UNS Team consists of Merlin Memayu, Lailan Mali’una Izzatur Rahman, and Akid Ardhan Al Ghifari who have followed the stages of the competition since November last year to March this year.
“The competition has three stages. The first stage was the abstract selection, the second stage is proposal selection, and the third stage is making the test object as well as testing at Universitas Diponegoro and the presentation of the result,” Merlin Memayu explained in communication with uns.ac.id, Wednesday (19/8/2020). She also stated that the abstract took more than 7 days to be completed, followed by formulating the proposal. The next step was conducting trials of making objects to get a suitable “mix design” for maximum results. Then, the results of the trials they had carried out were brought to Undip for the testing phase.
They had a presentation in March which was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The competition was resumed on 10-12 August through Zoom Cloud Meeting. With their result, Merlin admitted that they are grateful that they can fight other 38 universities in Indonesia and bring proud name for UNS.
