UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta placed in 7th position in the top 10 universities that passed the 33rd National Science Week (Pekan Ilmiah Nasional – Pimnas) of 2020. In an announcement released by the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti) Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) RI, Thursday (29/10/2020), UNS has 23 teams who passed into Pimnas this year. From this number, UNS surpassed Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) which each placed in 8, 9, and 10 ranks respectively. The proposals that passed into PKM Pimnas this year consists of 4 Entrepreneurship PKM, 4 PKM Karsa Cipta (copyright initiative), 2 Community Service PKM, and 13 Exact Research PKM.
Responding to this achievement, the Vice-Rector for Students and Alumni Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo stated that key of UNS success to enter the top 10 universities that passed Pimnas this year is inseparable from the closeness and synergy between students and their supervisors. Prof. Kuncoro appreciated the hard works from the PKM teams and their closeness with their supervisors. “That is the key to success. If the chemistry is food, with whatever ways we can achieve it,” Prof. Kuncoro stated in an interview in his office in Rectorate Building dr. Prakosa, Friday (6/11/2020). The other factors that contribute to this success are the new strategy and approach for supervisors and students.
Prof. Kuncoro explained in the preparation and socialization of PKM Pimnas program last year, UNS has recruited 120 experienced reviewers to look into each proposal submitted by students. He added that during UNS journey in participating in PKM Pimnas, this is the first time UNS entered the top 10. “For UNS, this is a very proud achievement,” Prof. Kuncoro added. The aforementioned reviewers have a duty to select and assess the student’s proposal. The review is conducted not only to select the best 700 proposals but also to select the team that entered the top 10. Prof. Kuncoro added that UNS students and alumni division will improve the preparation for PKM Pimnas for 2021 by inviting speakers and focuses PKM Pimnas proposal according to the Faculty field of discipline.
When asked about the reward for students who won a medal in PKM Pimnas, Prof. Kuncoro mentioned that UNS has managed the reward through Rector Decree Number 787/UN27HK/2019 concerning the Academic Award for Student Reasoning Activities. Humas UNS
