UNS – A professor for Criminal Law of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Dr. Supanto, S.H., M.Hum., was confirmed passing the first stage selection for Candidates of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Leaders by the KPK Selection Committee (Pansel), (07/11/2019).
Prof. Supanto’s name was listed in the 192 names which qualified the administrative selection by the KPK Leaders Pansel.
From academics, Prof. Supanto is one of 40 names of academics/lecturers who passed the administrative selection.
In the selection, Prof. Supanto had to compete with 383 other candidates from various fields, such as academics, TNI/Polri officers, prosecutors, attorneys, and judges.
Before has been declared qualifies the selection, this former Dean of Faculty of Law (FH) UNS period 2015-2019 had registered himself to be a candidate of KPK leaders (07/04/2019).
The registration had been opened by Pansel from June 17 until July 11. Then during the registration, reportedly 384 registrants had enrolled as the candidate of KPK tops, both online and offline.Â
After registering himself, Prof. Supanto said that he wanted to prove that academics were able as well to compete for the position of the KPK tops.
“I have got the calls and I want to prove that (we) academics are not only mastering the theory,” he said.
Prof. Supanto’s action was also encouraged wholeheartedly by UNS Rector, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho. According to him, Prof. Supanto’s goal needed to be supported because this selection of KPK leaders could be a chance for UNS to prove its ability.
