UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta student, Christianto Dedy Setyawan, from the Master Program in History Education won three writing competitions. He won 2nd place in the Writing Competition on Rural Tourism held by Badan Otorita Borobudur, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Kedaulatan Rakyat, and Kamadipa Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), 1st place in Infrastructure Essay held by Balai Besar Wilayah Sungai (BBWS) Bengawan Solo, and 1st place in the History Call For Paper held by the Student Association in History Education Program Universitas Siliwangi.
Chris stated that he wanted to hone his writing skill by participating in these three online competitions. “Also to channel my ideas through writing,” the writer under Prof. Dr. Sariyatun, M.Pd., M.Hum., supervision stated to uns.ac.id.
The work he submitted to the rural tourism essay competition discussed the rural tourism practices at Gerbosari, Kulonprogo. In another competition in September, he wrote about Demangan Baru Floodgate as an infrastructure around Bengawan Solo to prevent flooding in Surakarta. In another competition in September, Chris wrote about historical and local values inculcation through the history community forum. The data for his writing were collected from field observation, interviews, and literature research.
Chris said that he was happy with the achievement. “Was surprised that my writing could win,” he said.
“Hopefully, after these competitions, (I) could continue writing consistently to participate in other competitions or in newspaper forum. Writing is a means to share knowledge and ideas. Writing is a means to train self-competencies to continue developing,” he added. Humas UNS
