UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) strengthened its position as one of the best universities in Indonesian proven by the students’ achievements. On Thursday (9/19/2019) two students of Statistic Department 2016, Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMIPA), Akbar Maulana and Andika Putri Ratnasari successfully achieved runner-up in “Statistic in Action (Enthusiastic Competition) Universitas Islam Indonesia”.
Akbar mentioned that joining in various statistical Olympiad was considered as his devotion to UNS.
“I have joined several statistical Olympiads. It is my fifth achievement. Besides maintaining the reputation of UNS Statistic Department to get more achievements, I want to share my knowledge with Indonesian masters of statistics and bound more connections,” Akbar mentioned.
The 2019 Enthusiastic Competition is a national Statistical Olympiad for bachelor and diploma students of Statistic Program, having two steps of competitions which are Statistic in Action (data analysis) and Info-graphic Competition.
“This national statistical Olympiad is joined by various universities in Indonesia including STIS Polytechnic of Statistics. There are two steps which are online elimination and final round located in UII,” Akbar explained.
Previously, Akbar had successfully obtained several achievements of Statistical Olympiad. Among them are third place in National Statistical Analysis Week conducted in Universitas Mulawarman, bronze medal of Padjajaran Statistical Olympiad in Universitas Padjajaran, Finalist of National Statistic Competition in Bandung Agricultural Institute, and Finalist of Statistical Olympiad Edufest in STIS. Furthermore, he will join the 2019 Padajaran National Statistical Olympiad and Sebelas Maret Statistic Olympiad in October.
“Hereafter, I want to always be an achiever. I want to develop my skill in programming in order to have broader knowledge in data science and I will learn autodidactic because the Olympiad material has a very high level,” Akbar stated. Humas UNS/Kaffa/Imron
