UNS – Students of Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) emerged as the first winner and the best speaker in the Indonesia Inter-Colleges Students Constitution Debate Competition XII Center Region in Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) Salatiga, Monday-Wednesday (04/08-10/2019). This UNS Debate Team consists of Firda Rizqika, FH UNS’ student year 2017; Elisabeth Felita Silalahi, FH UNS’ student year 2017; and Ayuta Puspa Citra Zuama, FH UNS’ student year 2016.
“In this competition, UNS successfully wins over STHI Jentera and Universitas Jenderal Soedirman in the preliminary round. Then, in the quarter-final wins over UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, and Universitas Tarumanegara in the Semi-final,” said Elisabeth.
Meanwhile, the second winner was obtained by a team from Universitas Mulawarman (Unmul) Samarinda. On the other hand, the third winner was achieved by Universitas Tarumanegara after winning over Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta.
The event held by the Constitutional Court (MK) in collaboration with FH UKSW Salatiga was attended by 24 colleges from Central Java, DKI Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Kalimantan. They are, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, STHI Jentera, Universitas Tarumanegara, UII Yogyakarta, Universitas Tanjungpura West Kalimantan, Undip Semarang, Universitas Mulawarman East Kalimantan, UNS, UGM Yogyakarta, UNIKA Soegijapranata Semarang, Universitas Negeri Yogyarta, UIN Walisongo Semarang, IAIN Pekalongan, IAIN Salatiga, Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta, Universitas Muria Kudus, Unnes Semarang, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) Purwokerto, UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, Universitas Pancasila, UKI Jakarta, Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat South Kalimantan, and UKSW as the played host of this competition.
As stated on his press release, General-Secretary of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. M. Guntur Hamzah, explained that this competition was the 12th event which had been held. Not only in the center region but this event was also held in the west and east region. The winners of each region will compete in national level on the next August.
He added this event had missions to socialize the Amendment of 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945) and to foster the constitutional awareness, enhance student’s ability, deepen and understand the problems of Pancasila and constitution also encourage students in improving their explaining ability of the constitutional text with the development and dynamics of constitutionally practice in present.
